Puppy Training Pads. Why use them? 05/22/2010
 A new puppy in the household is very exciting for you, your family, and the puppy. Unfortunately it is very rare that a puppy is toilet trained by the time he is old enough to be weaned off his mother and taken away to his new home. You puppy will require special care and treatment from his food, to his sleeping arrangement, to training and particularly toilet training. The good news is that in regards to his toilet training there are alternatives to litter trays, and the best alternative is puppy training pads. There are many problems with litter trays. Firstly the litter itself take up a lot of storage room. It usually comes in large containers that last anywhere from a few days to a week. Litter trays are messy, a puppy will walk onto a litter tray and then will always spill some litter onto the floor when he exits the tray. Litter trays require that you reach in to pickup the droppings with your hand inside a plastic bag. And don't we all love the feeling of a warm one with the protection of only a plastic bag between it and our hands.  The smart alternative to litter trays is puppy training pads. Puppy training pads are solid in nature and there is no loose materials or particles that will spill, they are mush thicker than a plastic bag and will isolate that "warm feeling" of cleaning litter, and they are cheaper than litter. There really is no comparison between litter and puppy training pads. Litter has been around for a long time, and while it may work well with kittens who like to dig in their waste, puppies just "dump and run". Litter is no a natural thing for puppies. If you want to encourage you puppy to "go outside" he will need to be trained with the most natural ways. Your puppy will associate your outside lawn with toilet habits far more quickly if he is trained with puppy training pads than if he is used to soft litter. Puppy training pads are also an improvement over litter for you puppies wee. If your puppies wee is not cleaned up in a litter tray your puppy will walk over wet litter. Puppy training pads will lock away wetness maintaining a clean household floor.
